When opening a .mud file you might get a warning error that states the following, File version is too new or is corrupt.
This could be due to the following reasons:
Windows 10 – Windows 10 is not currently fully supported by Mudbox.
There are many issues that could cause this, some are system-specific.
If you opened Mudbox using “Send to Mudbox” from Maya or 3DS Max, Mudbox will automatically create a .bak file as an autosave version of the file, just change the extension to.mud.
I am still trying to figure out what causes a file to be corrupt in Mudbox and update this article as I get more information.
