The Ubuntu team is pleased to announce the final beta release of Ubuntu 13.04 Desktop, Server, Cloud, and Core products. Codenamed “Raring Ringtail”, 13.04 continues Ubuntu’s proud tradition of integrating the latest and greatest open source technologies into a high-quality, easy-to-use Linux distribution. The team has been hard at work through this cycle, introducing new features and fixing bugs. Together with Ubuntu 13.04, Kubuntu, Edubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu and Ubuntu Studio also reached Final Beta status today. We also welcome two new flavors, Ubuntu Gnome and UbuntuKylin, which are participating in the Ubuntu release process for the first time this cycle.
The main release of Ubuntu 13.04 will be on April 25 2013.It will come with a reduced support cycle of only 9 months. Support for it will end in January 2014. Canonical recently announced that non-lts-version of Ubuntu will have a reduced support cycle for 18 months to 9 months only. LTS versions will continue to have support till 5 years. If you’re running Daily Builds of Ubuntu 13.04 you don’t need to do anything special to get the beta – as long as you’re up-to-date, you’re using it. Features of Ubuntu 13.04:

Wubi: Ubuntu downloader for Windows discontinued: Due to various bugs in Wubi that have not been addressed in time for this Final Beta, the Ubuntu team will not be releasing the Wubi installer with 13.04. You can read more about this decision here. Users who wish to try out Ubuntu without repartitioning a Windows system are encouraged to use a live system instead, booted from either a DVD or a USB disk.
