**Fedora **is an RPM-based, general-purpose collection of software, including an operating system based on the Linux kernel, developed by the community-supported Fedora Project and owned by Red Hat. The latest version of Fedora was available for download on January 15, 2013. Fedora 18  (Spherical Cow). Fedora 18 offers better service and cleaner UI than other Linux. It offers more up-to-date Software than other Linux distributions, It is the third most used Linux distribution.

There are some of the features of Fedora 18 include:

  1. Support for UEFI Secure Boot
  2. A rewrite of the Anaconda installer
  3. A new system upgrade utility called FedUp
  4. The default desktop upgraded to GNOME 3.6.2
  5. Updated to KDE 4.9 and Xfce 4.10
  6. Inclusion of MATE and Cinnamon desktops
  7. Better Active Directory support
  8. Support for NetworkManager hotspots
  9. Support for 256 color terminals by default
  10. Offline system updates utilizing systemd and PackageKit
  11. Better cloud computing support with the inclusion of Eucalyptus, Heat, and OpenStack Folsom
